I love seeing how other people organize their things because I'm a super neat freak, and I have a LOT of clay to organize! I don't know how everyone else organizes their clay, but here's my little treasure box. It's just a little Caboodles box from Target and I love it because it reminds me of Hannah Montana's secret identity box.... hah I like that it's all in one place and it's portable so I can just grab it and head straight to the couch to make some little clay creations!
On each side I keep the clay separated by color... kindof. It's an attempt.
In that last drawer I keep nail polish, because I haven't gotten around to buying real glaze and so far it has worked just the same! It just smells infinitley more like acetone than any Sculpey glaze I'm sure.
On the bottom I keep a tile for a clean surface to work on, a bag with all my tools, a cup to cover unbaked sculptures with so they aren't super dusty, and some paper towel. Sculpting is messy! I also keep a few papers down there with tips on how to sculpt certain things like hands and feet and limbs but honestly I got them in art class and put them in there with the intent of using them and they still haven't been unfolded. Someday perhaps! The last thing I keep is a little compartment box with all my little scrap pieces of clay. I make a lot of my own colors by mixing and often I have leftovers so I just keep them in there so they don't go to waste and I can use them again. I also keep things that may come in handy for sculptures like toothpicks, tin foil, beads, paperclips, little metal washers, buttons, yada yada yada yada.
These are all of my tools, but truthfully I only use the ones in the second picture. Most of them are tools I've gotten with Sculpey kits and that I've bought or received from Micheal's, and I just really like feeling like an official artist with all my fancy tools. Even if I don't use the majority of them.
The long stick one was actually a cleaning tool for guns, but it works so well for literally EVERYTHING! The little ones do everything else and are just sculpey tools that we bought from Micheal's.
That's it! I hope it's not too messy and that it gives someone ideas maybe? Yep

//Student Teaching //Artist//
So doing both is not easy I am realizing. But hey, we made it! The end of the semester is nearly over!
I have spent one of the most insane semesters of my life being a student and being a teacher. It was BANANAS. I loved it and know that I will love being a history teacher where ever I go, and I can not wait until I can start to blend my love for teaching with my love for art! Every few lessons or so I looked forward to doodling something related to the topic on the board, whether it be Jefferson building a new invention or, my personal favorite, Scylla and Charybdis for a World History lesson!
I have finals coming up and then I can finally
HELP!
Hello everyone! Long time no type!
I have been CRAZY working on student teaching, which leaves little time for art. If you follow me on instagram, you'll know that I am still sketching all the time, but I did not feel like these daily sketches were strong enough to be full-blown deviations. But if you are interested, check me out (@saraisafreeelf). I have also been finishing my chairs that I started last summer! WHEW!
This is my last semester as an undergrad EVER. Just a few months of lesson planning, a 30 page paper, and my state boards project stand in between me and the real life of an actual adult. That is four hundred percent terrifyin
Taking Some Time to Give Thanks
I have been typing non-stop for an entire semester about history and education and art history. Hopefully that fosters some intense hand strength for a sculpting spree when I come back home for Christmas break!
Senior year is proving to be certainly interesting. I am trying to stop going into everything with the mindset of “This is my last time doing this!” Because whooo boy that can put a damper on things. But going into Thanksgiving time, I am struck by how incredibly thankful I am for this education. I have been blessed enough to go to this little school for three and a half years now, and as I get ready to enter my semester o

How long have you been on DeviantArt?
I have been a member since May 19, 2011. My closest friend, who loves drawing, kept telling me to upload my sculptures online and I finally did it!
What does your username mean?
It was originally SaraRoseey, which is just my first name and my middle name. I have since changed it to SkipperSara, which is my first name and my favorite ride at Disney World, the Jungle Cruise, blended together. In high school I finally went on that ride and LOVED the skippers and started saying that I was going to be a skipper someday too!
